Stats on this page are only for the July Pony Penning sale and do not include pony sales/auctions held at any other time of year. The ponies sold in a certain year aren't necessarily foals born only that year, yearlings and rarely older ponies have been sold and would be included in the year's data. Buybacks are included in the year's statistics. The sale of ponies at Pony Penning went to an auction only sale in the 1960s. Previously foals were sold for a set price first, one price for colts and another for fillies, and the remainder auctioned.
